Because he had convinced her that moving would help her to make a complete break with her painful past, Sarah agreed to leave New York to join her husband David, on assignment in Salamanca, a small isolated forest town in Pennsylvania. Once there, the young woman notes with dread that the promised tranquillity was not to be. First there is there is their new home, which is "visited" in their absence.
