This factual, educational comic strip, based on the life and discoveries of Marie Curie, one of the major scientific figures of the 20th century, is being published on the occasion of the centenary of the awarding of the Nobel Prize for Chemistry to Marie Curie.
The illustrated part of the album, created by Chantal Montellier, is set around the time when Marie Curie is awarded her second Nobel Prize, while a violent press campaign is waged against her. She was bitterly criticised for her affair, which was made public, with the physicist Paul Langevin. Through a series of memories shown in flashbacks, we are told about the key moments of her life and career, already exceptional in its own right and even more so when you consider the lack of room for women in the field of research at the time.
