Born in October 1970 in Saint-Loup in French-speaking Switzerland,
Bertschy becomes a graphic designer and works in that capacity for
Philip Morris for 8 years.
Having won the "new talent"
competition of the Sierre comic book festival in 1999, he starts out in
the TCHÔ ! magazine. He gets to animate a comic strip called "Jimmy
Brocoli".
Editions Glénat then offer him a chance to create a
series of his own. This results in the creation of "Smax" which appears
monthly in TCHÔ ! (4 albums published so far).
In February
2001, Bertschy launches the "Nelson" comic strips in Le Matin
(no. 1 daily newspaper in French-speaking Switzerland). He has
created no less than 640 of them so far.
