Algerian Jersey

In the run up to the 1958 World Cup in Sweden, twelve elite footballers of Algerian origin left France and made their way in secret to a camp ran by Algeria's National Liberation Front. Their aim: to set up the first Algerian national team and turn it into an ambassador for the global independence movement. Their task was not an easy one. They were forced to travel the world in secrecy, often having to cross several thousand kilometers of desert in a minibus to get to their matches, where there were no substitutes waiting on the benches to share the effort. Nevertheless, over the course of more than 80 matches, this team of star players turned vagabonds would go on to accomplish feat after feat.
