1926. To gain her freedom, Sarane marries a young colonial officer. As she is free, Sarane gets lost in the Sahara. The Tuaregs find her and Sarane is held captive. Captivated by her love for Kheg, the lord of the desert. But the capture then the escape of a white prisoner will unbalance her fragile position.
Years later, as her life wanes, Sarane recalls the story and begins to wonder: Who was that old man sitting on his bench: Her husband? Her lover? The prisoner? Or someone else entirely...
