La Veuve blanche

On their wedding day, Valérie and Laurent de Maximy have a car accident. She escapes unharmed, but her husband is killed instantly. When she shuts herself up in the family home, Frédéric, the dead man's brother, forces his way in. Valérie, hysterical, throws him out, but not without revealing her secret to him: while she is a virgin, her husband, an inveterate womaniser, cheated on her on the eve of their wedding. A short time later, she disappears after having emptied the bank accounts. Troubled by this young woman who, after all, he really doesn't know, Frédéric hires a detective and sets off to find her. The tumultuous past of Valérie bubbles back to the surface while he follows her tracks across Europe, a trail that gets bloodier and bloodier. But who really is this woman?
